Our beautiful 4 acre site on the edge of the Dales is an immersive learning ground in its own right. We will be offering blocks of sessions for children who are being home educated to learn about growing in nature – paced entirely by the seasons.

These sessions are more suitable to children 12+ and parents are welcome, but this is optional.

Sessions will run in line with what our CIC volunteers would also be doing in their sessions that week, so they are authentic. Wellbeing is nurtured here and our hands on approach allows children to learn by doing. By the end of a 6 week course, they should be seeing the fruits of their labour! In April and May we will be sowing plenty of seeds, recording this, preparing no dig beds, composting, potting on plants, and some harvesting. All this will be done whilst observing what is going on in nature around us.

These sessions are great as shared experiences, with a focus on wellbeing and enjoying nature as well as learning about growing. These will be paced according to the group, but may well suit primary aged children best. We will be working on our new family growing space, so there will be plenty of tasks built around this. We can also take a look at recording what we see over the weeks – perhaps checking on wildlife in our pond or using binoculars to take a closer look at buzzards and curlews that often fly over our site.
